Rangel and Pelosi Further Isolate Themselves From the American Public and Reality

Charlie Rangel made comments on Thursday that he should not be held accountable for taking corporate junkets. Rangel’s denial that he knew that he was on a corporate-funded trip to the Caribbean is all the more ridiculous considering that he also says that he should/could not have know that he was violating ethics rules.
Here is a tip for the Congressman. If you find yourself in the Caribbean, look in your wallet. If you realize that you are not paying for anything, it might be an ethics violation. Your only other options are that somebody else is paying your way or you’ve sprouted fairy wings. Best of luck, Congressman, with the more serious charges.
Even more outlandish are Nancy Pelosi’s comments on Friday regarding both Rangel’s exoneration from any responsibility by the Ethics Committee. What report (press release) was she reading? After all, it is herEthics Committee. To claim that she presides over “the most ethical house in history” is embarrassing and a disheartening leap from reality.
Ms. Pelosi, if this is not a violation of ethics rules, it is certainly a violation of ethics. Maybe there is a problem with the rules.
