Senator Whitehouse Deals a Race Card From the Bottom of the Deck

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse made some curious comments on the floor of the Senate while discussing healthcare. In the video, the Senator calls foes of healthcare Birthers, Militia Members, and Aryans.
Unfortunately for the Senator, polls show that the majority of Americans are against the current healthcare bill. Why Senator Whitehouse feels compelled to characterize over 50% of the country in such a manner is something that only he can answer, however, when asked all he could do was deny that he had made the claim. The Teaparty movement has recently out-polled both Republicans and Democrats. It must be difficult for Sheldon Whitehouse to be on the outside of such a popular grassroots movement.
Beyond the misrepresentations of motives of healthcare foes and a statement that is almost ridiculous in its naiveté, are the Senator’s claims that opponents are somehow allied with insurance companies. The bill as it stands is a godsend to insurance companies. Senator Whitehouse’s statement that we are looking at the end of the insurance industry is outrageous and shows his complete lack of competence and/or honesty.
Insurance companies have somehow done very well on the anticipation of the passage of he Senate’s healthcare bill. The only thing that 2700 pages of legislation represent is the end of any hope for meaningful reform- reform that might actually have cut medical costs and continue the type of innovation that the previous healthcare system offered.
Senator Sheldon used the term desperate. Desperation is what I sense from him and his party. The desperation in the last hours of the legislative process lead to favor a free-for-all and a parceling out of tax dollars in exchange for political favors, the likes of which intraparty negotiations have never seen.
Below MSNBC host Dylan Ratigan, who can hardly be called a foe of healthcare reform, gets it right and takes a member of congress to task.

Yeah this video is pretty nuts. She was much more gracious than I would have been.
This is hilarious!! Dylan won't let his guest say anything. He truly did have the wrong person on if he wanted an answer to stock prices. I can't blame the woman for finally continuing to talk while he was shouting. Best I have seen in a long time!
