Exactly John, not to mention that those said foreign countries do not have the environmental protections that we do in this country— meaning they would strip the land w/o re-building or re-planting, not have emission controls, and even more importantly, on the human side of things they have horrible, unsafe working conditions, badly mistreat their labor force, and pay below poverty level wages.
If Rep.Giffords and others like her were honestly for the environment (as opposed for being in it for the money) this would be a no brainer. However, this reminds me of the Ted Kennedy / John Kerry situation where they were all for wind energy, until it was going to go up in the Cape and thus mar their view of paradise. Same old same old political games. To bad this has real consequences.

If our goverment agencies and our elected official who claim to want clean energy continue to block the mining of the commodities we need for solar and wind power we must get these commodities from foriegn countries. When this happens it will be the same as oil, the foriegn counties will be able to dictate to us on price and we will be sending more jobs overseas. Both things will be bad for our econony.
