How did Obama find 150 Doctors to Support His Plan?

How did Obama find 150 Doctors to Support His Plan?

Those in our current Administration are, if nothing else, masters at public relations.  In an attempt to breath life into a failing healthcare plan, the Obama Administration staged an event that was to show the support for reform from the medical profession.  Obama invited and spoke to 150 doctors, all wearing white lab coats supplied by the Administration for the event.  The impression left by Administration officials is that the event shows an overwhelming support for the President’s plan.

Jonathan Tilove at NOLA.com reported,  “It was a glorious fall day and the White House Rose Garden was resplendent as 150 doctors in their white lab coats came to Washington from every state Monday to cheer the president’s call for health care reform.”

The President commented, “I am thrilled to have all of you here today, and you look very spiffy in your coats.”  Obama went on to say, “When you cut through all the noise and all the distractions that are out there, I think what’s most telling is that some of the people who are most supportive of reform are the very medical professionals who know the healthcare system best.”

So who were these doctors?  Were they ordinary non-politically motivated professionals who decided to take up the President’s cause?  Or was this a staged event (astroturf, if you will) that would give people who do not pay much attention to politics a warm and fuzzy feeling that their doctor beleives in Obama’s plan?

Below are some excerpts from Healthcare Horse Race, who has done some looking into the event; click on the title below to read the entire article.

Obama’s Doctor Rally Filled With Democrat Donors
President Obama presented his cadre of Doctors as if they were there only because they supported his Obamacare polices. But even The New York Times is casting doubt on that assumption by reporting that the group that assisted Team Obama to round up the Doctors was once called “Doctors For Obama” during the late campaign.

As noted below, the group that supplied many of the doctors for the Rose Garden event, Doctors for America, is a nonprofit organization that grew out of Doctors for Obama, which worked to help elect the president. But it also appears to be working closely with Organizing for America, Mr. Obama’s political organization.

So, instead of presenting a bunch of doctors that are disinterested in politics, but want reform of the nation’s healthcare, we end up seeing a group of Obama campaign operatives wearing white coats.

Did any of the 150 doctors pay for their travel and/or lodgings? Was this event sponsored (i.e. funded) by a lobbyist, the DNC, or the taxpayers?
POTUS supplied the lab coats and the participants stood with the President to support a health plan THAT NO ONE HAS SEEN. The next step is to get the 111th Congress to pass legislation without reading it.
We need a little boy to stand up and declare “The emperor has no clothes!”
