ACORN: Just the Tip of Obama’s Organizational Iceburg

Much has been made about Obama continuing his Organize for America campaign indefinitely. But organizing is in his blood, and so is ACORN. Candidate Obama paid ACORN $800,000 to get out the vote. These were the ACORN vans that we saw driving voters to the polls. It turns out now, following the arrest of 11 ACORN officials in Florida, that the accusations of fraud were substantiated. Investigations into voter fraud committed by ACORN employees continue in multiple states as well.
President Obama has continued his passion for community organization in the Oval Office. ACORN stands or stood to receive up to 8.5 billion dollars in stimulus money as part of Obama’s service program. It is ironic that on the day the President chose to redirect the focus of the country from a day of remembrance to a day of service that the first cracks would appear in his plan to use ACORN as a vehicle to organize support firmly behind his progressive agenda.
The media were able to ignore, and the public at large was apathetic enough to not care, that allegations of fraud were rampant around the President’s campaign. But images of ACORN officials promoting child prostitution and blatant tax fraud, coupled with the evidence that voter fraud and intimidation investigations have found, were too much for at least one ACORN program to move forward. ACORN and the President stood to leave a lasting mark on America’s political future by turning the Census into a community organizing event. At least for now, it looks like the 2010 Census will be free of nuts. However, the ACORN does not fall far from the tree, so presure should be kept to remove the responsibility for the Census from the Administration.
At the same time the media was ignoring Candidate Obama’s ties to ACORN, they were whitewashing his questionable fundraising efforts. Now that the ACORN wing of the Obama Administration is starting to be exposed, investigators need to look into the fundraising efforts of his campaign and the continuing fundrasing efforts and actions of Organize for America .
Candidate Obama invites discredited community organization into his administration.
